These layers are compared to the tides in the sea. This kite rides over different layers of wind. The poet says that without its tail, the kite looks as though it has only a sail. After the disconnection of the tail, the kite soars high up in the sky. Its long and colorful tail snaps from the main body of the kite. In other words, the altitude of the kite decreases. While it is in its flight, the kite takes a dip and a dive.
The poet begins by pointing out that a new kite looks quite bright when it is flown in the blue sky for the first time.
